Looking as stylish as ever and rather slender (she wouldn't be the first to diet with her royal wedding dress in mind), Kate appeared as a free as a bird and unencumbered by the trappings of a Queen in waiting.  Astonishingly, she appeared to only have two protection officers in sight - and one was so casually dressed he would have gone unnoticed but for the coat he was wearing on the hottest day of the year.  Miss Middleton will walk up the aisle at Westminster Abbey next Friday to marry heir to the throne Prince William.

With the sun on her back and the wind in her hair, Kate Middleton had a spring in her step on the King's Road in London today. And why shouldn't she? The happiest day of her life was just days away, when she will finally marry the man of her dreams in front of adoring billions around the globe.

She wore a £480 Issa short-sleeved black wrap dress and tan court kitten heels - which she was spotted wearing four years ago - accessorised with her 18-carat sapphire and diamond engagement ring.  The ring's precious stones make it worth £250,000, but the Queen-to be's version, which used to belong to Diana, is valued at £32million.  She bought a high waisted pair of blue-and-white spotted trousers costing £125, a lemon T-shirt at £95 and a cream blouse for £125.

Fellow shoppers said she looked like a doll and had more dollz and had tried on a size 10 but settled for size 8.  One assistant said: 'She's so skinny, oh my God, she's lost so much weight.   'But she's lovely and spoke in a soft manner and was very polite.'  'Wow, it's not every day the future Queen of England pops into the shops.'

She later browsed through the rails at the Peter Jones department store in Sloane Square, snapping up make-up and toiletries and a pair of Marc Jacobs sunglasses.  When the assistant told her the glasses 'look trendy', she replied: 'Great, I'll take them.'

The Day before the wedding,  (YOU can contact us) she spent four hours at her hairdressers Richard Ward with her personal stylist James Pryce - where she was seen emerging with an artfully dishevelled bun, sparking further speculation as to whether she will wear her hair up or down for the ceremony.
